* Companies engaged in packing, storage and logistics technologies will assume an important place in the exhibition.

The Agro Mashov 2009, Israel’s greatest annual international agriculture exhibition, will be held on January 14-15, 2009, at the Israel Trade Fairs and Convention Center.

Israel is known as one of the world's leading producers of fresh, quality agricultural products. The aim of Agro Mashov 2009 Exhibition is to maintain Israel’s reputation as a quality producer of agricultural produce, wine grapes, fruits, flowers, fresh vegetables and organic produce.

The Agro Mashov Exhibition will help reaching new markets and reinforce ties with fresh agricultural produce buyers from Israel and around the world who will attend the exhibition. Israeli farmers have proven a high level of professionalism, and Israeli agricultural products are in high demand worldwide, when the export of fresh agricultural produce from Israel is estimated at approximately one billion dollars.

The best known and leading brands of Israeli Products are: Jaffa and Carmel. Experts estimate that within three years, the export of Israeli agricultural produce may double.

The Chief Scientist in the Ministry of Trade & Industry, Dr. Eli Ofer, supports the research and development for restoration of flavor to fruits and vegetables. In the next three years, 40 million NIS are to be invested in studies aimed at restoring the taste and flavor fruits and vegetables have lost in recent years. The logistic ability of Israeli produce exporters is high. Israel specializes in a refrigerated transport chain and innovative packing and storage methods extending the shelf life of agricultural products. Naturally, companies engaged in packing, storage and logistic technologies would occupy an important place in the exhibition. In addition, the exhibition features new technologies and researches that will assist farmers to improve their professional ability. Israel is one of the leaders in the development of technologies for agricultural products (Israel invented the drip irrigation system).

Since its inception 18 years ago, the great success of the Agro Mashov Exhibition has made it the most important annual agricultural meeting in the Middle East. Numerous foreign delegations and members of the media visit the exhibition, as well as leading farmers, researchers and instructors in Israel. More than 20,000 professionals visited the 17th Agro Mashov Exhibition (which was not open to the general public).

The Agro Mashov Exhibition displays the most important innovations, varieties and research, and features more than 130 exhibitors, including Israel’s most important research institutes and many foreign exhibitors. Conferences and competitions will be held in close proximity to the exhibition, with the participation of experts from Israel and abroad, including an international symposium, titled: “Israel as a Reliable Producer of Quality Agricultural Produce”, with lecturers from Israel and abroad.
